PlayStation.com Europe
From initial conversations to completing the project, the new PlayStation.com was around a nine month project, involving many different departments within SCEE as well as external agencies. The main objective for the site was to give it a fresh look in keeping with the current PlayStation branding and really open up the content (which had previously been very hard to find). It was a huge project because of the large number of different systems that needed to be integrated, the number of people involved, and the massive amount of content (thousands of game records and tens of thousands of stories, multiplied by 22 locales).
I did the initial prototyping concept work (leading to creating the flexible content panels - allowing expansion/contraction and pagination - as well as the game finder -allowing games to be found quickly and easily via various browsing methods).
I was also responsible for planning the front-end architecture and defining the required services. I also built the portal framework and the front-end for the site. I acted as the main point of contact for both QA teams, the design team, the back-end team, and the content creation team.
Front-end developed in Actionscript 2 (Object-oriented Flash)
Backend developed by NCA
The site USED to be viewed online at www.playstation.co.uk, but has sadly since been replaced. The new version is completely different and bears no resemblance to the version that I worked on.
