Mott and Baileys

Mott and Baileys is a physics-based action game of medieval castle battle. This game aims to exploit the tactile fun of board games and toys, such as knocking over “Jenga” stacks or playing with lego.

Partly inspired by the Atari classic “Rampart” and the 80s board game “Crossbows and catapults”, you play one of a pair of neighbouring kingdoms, in an all-out battle to topple the neighbour’s castle and outbuildings.

As well as destruction, construction and repairs play a major part of the game. Elements from the enemies castle (bricks, turrets etc) can be reclaimed and used to bolster your defences. Similarly parts of buildings in the “neutral zone” (such as barns, stables) can be extracted and re-used.

The game is still in early prototyping phase - it consists of a prototype to explore the firing mechanic, and a seperate prototype to explore construction. The construction mechanism uses snapping and gestural input to manipulate the blocks quickly.

Developed in C++, OGRE (graphics), Ageia PhysX (physics)
