Audio Boarding
Audio Boarding is a prototype built to explore the connection between performance in a musical context and the sense of performance experienced when playing skateboarding or surfing games. The aim of the prototype is to create an experience whereby the player is interacting with the “run” - which represents a music track - using a mechanic similar to that used in snowboarding games. Elements within the run, such as ramps or rails, correspond to different musical events and by manipulating them as you would in a snowboarding game (such as grinding) this affects the contribution to the music track playing. Rather than just a simple “hit” mechanic, effects could be more subtle such as position and duration on a grind affecting pitch bend and duration of a string note.
By covering the run multiple times, each pass layers a new layer to the track, such as percussion, bass, keyboards as new elements are added each time.
Its currently in very early phases of prototyping.
