LittleBigPlanet

As presented at GDC yesterday, LittleBigPlanet from Media Molecule (many ex-Lionhead folks, also responsible for Rag Doll Kung Fu) is a PS3 game to get excited about. What charming, beautiful art direction! LittleBigPlanet places a huge emphasis on user generated content, the ability to create communally within the game’s physics sandbox and share these levels online.

Just like I hate the term Web 2.0, I also dislike game 3.0

This game looks wonderful though.

The problems I used to have playing Sonic the hedgehog 2 and a coop platformer on atari (whos name I forget), is that if someone falls behind, its sometimes hard to get back. They used to just fall off the screen. Here the camera pans out to show everyone, making the player very tiny and therefore harder to get the lost player over the obstable to rejoin the others.

That said, a great game, shame the ps3 is so overpriced.

I’m not a gamer, but that game has been done incredibly well. Its social aspect is definitely its strength, also because as “game” isn’t very clear where you can get or how you get points/credits to compete with others. In any case, respect!

Wow… this looks incredible.

I agree with chris about the term gaming 3.0, horrible buzzwords that I almost guarantee everyone in the gaming business is probably going to start using. Also eventually they’ll run out of numbers with these things or get so high people loose track… so they’ll start using ‘X’ or ‘EXTREME’ instead

This game looks beautiful though, I really love the use of textures. Trees made out of felt etc… its gorgeous. The art direction as a whole looks incredible.
